All PFT testers have great field stories. For Dennis, who's been on our team for longer than he can remember, a highlight of his testing career came on a chairlift. "I was wearing this unusual inflatable garment with a built-in automatic compressor, and it started to expand and vibrate all of a sudden. These people I was riding up with, who didn't know anything about the test, didn't know what was going on and I think they were afraid to ask." Just another day's work for Dennis, who wears the shoes, boots and apparel he tests for PFT during his daily work in construction and maintenance for a recreation and conservation organization in the Northeast. He admits that he's harder on products than other testers, since the conditions to which he exposes his gear can often be more extreme than those faced by recreational users. All the better for test findings, we say. "When I wear these products at work, I put heavy miles on them... heavier than most people. The average person doesn't end up pouring gasoline on their shoes or staring down blowtorches in muddy ditches or accidentally cutting chainsaws through coats the way I do." We certainly hope not. Thanks to Dennis, though, our clients now know how their products react when people like him put them to the test. And we always look forward to the stories he brings back from the field.
